The following tools and resources are required to conduct the on-site lecture and hands-on training portion of the certification: 


For Battery Systems
  • Serial Data (Scan) Tool
    • capable of acquiring Enhanced PIDs & Output Controls
  • DVOM
  • Insulation Meter
  • Thermal Imager
  • Insulated Tool Set
  • Battery Pack Discharger:  Module/Cell Power & Capacity Tester *
  • High Voltage Programmable Battery Charger *
  • Battery Pack Smoke (Leak Tester) Machine
  • Vac-N-Fill Coolant Servicing System
  • High Voltage Class 0 Gloves & Leather Over-Gloves
  • Arc Flash PPE (TBD – Needs Energy Incident & Risk Assessment Review)

The host site must also be able to provide the following for the administration of Electrified Transportation hands-on and lecture training, as well as written and practical exams:

  • Lecture hall or classroom with screen projection or overhead monitor
  • Automotive shop or lab environment for hands-on activities
  • Vehicles for hands-on activities (the number of vehicles is dependent upon class/group size)
  • One non-participant staff member or faculty who will be available to assist in proctoring the written exams
    • This individual will be needed for a half-day (or less)
